If you have not discovered Pokhara before then you have a
treat in store. Pokhara is the second city of Nepal and its
most popular destination after Kathmandu. Located beside
Nepals second largest lake [Fewa Tal] in the Pokhara Valley,
it is framed by the Annapurna range of the Himalaya and
enjoys a warm sub-tropical climate.
Pokhara has become the main hub for trekking and peak
climbing expeditions in the Annapurna region and a favourite
meeting point for travellers. The Lakeside district is
favoured by most tourists and back-packers partly because of
the scenery and partly because it looks out over Lake Fewa.
Lakeside offers the relaxed bustle of a border town with the
splendour of Mount Fishtail and the Annapurnas reflected in
the Lake. There is plenty to do - from caving, boating or
microlite flights to seeing temples, monasteries and shrines
or trekking, hiking or climbing, for example.
